1 Corinthians 12
It becomes evident during group projects how each of us have unique skills and talents.
Paul highlights how each of us has a different gift and responsibility within life:
“4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.”
God calls each individual to honor Him using the different skills and abilities He has given to them.
I have taken a personality test called “Working Genius” twice now for work that categorizes you into what kind of worker you are. This concept is represented by a series of cogs: Wonder, Invention, Discernment, Galvanizing, Enablement, and Tenacity.
It is entertaining to compare what each team member gets. As you dwell on the results, you realize how you’ve seen their strengths at work. Some find logistics to be their strength. Others find thinking up new and exciting things to be their strength. The strengths that each of us possess are different and equally wonderful, including our spiritual gifts.
God has given each of us a series of gifts to further His Kingdom. Together, our differences and skills allow for the Kingdom of God to grow. The work each individual contributes to matters as each person works at what they do best. That work has larger effects than what we can see in the here and now.
It is important that we realize God wants and is able to use our abilities that allow for the growth of His Kingdom in ways beyond what we find our strength to be. We all contribute to the spreading of The Word. We all contribute towards the Church Community, which is a very important aspect of the faith.
Pray for God to use you and your abilities. This kind of prayer can open doors that might lead you into the unknown, but God will use you in those spaces.
