For Today and This Week
Read 1 Samuel 3:1–21, paying special attention to Samuel’s response to God: “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”
God speaks not only to inform us, but to form us. Through His Word, our worship, our prayers, and the songs we sing, God shapes who we are and how we respond to Him.
As you read this week, consider two questions:
What is God saying?
How is God forming me through what He is saying?

Day 2 — “Be Thou My Vision”
Song lyric of focus: “Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart”
Theme: Discipleship means learning to see life through Christ
Road map:
Once we know where we belong, the next question is: What are we looking toward? Discipleship is the lifelong process of allowing Christ to become our vision—our priority, our wisdom, our treasure, and the lens through which we see everything else.
Reflection:
A disciple isn't simply someone who believes in Jesus; a disciple is someone who is learning to see the world through Jesus. Our priorities change as Christ becomes our vision. We begin to value what He values, pursue what He pursues, and see other people as He sees them. God builds His church as individual believers increasingly fix their eyes on Christ.
Hebrews 12: 1-3 says
12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Key take away: What captures our vision will ultimately shape the way we live.
