For Today and This Week

Read 1 Samuel 3:1–21, paying special attention to Samuel’s response to God: “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”

God speaks not only to inform us, but to form us. Through His Word, our worship, our prayers, and the songs we sing, God shapes who we are and how we respond to Him.

As you read this week, consider two questions:

What is God saying?

How is God forming me through what He is saying?

Song lyric of focus:

“Speak O Lord and fulfill in us

All Your purposes for Your glory”

Theme: God's Word transforms disciples and builds His church

Road map:

This makes a very strong conclusion to our five days together. We belong to Christ, we fix our eyes on Him, we surrender ourselves, and we learn to listen. But what is God forming in us? His Word transforms us into the people He calls us to be.

Reflection:

God builds His church through disciples who are continually being shaped by His Word. Scripture doesn't simply give us information—it changes the way we think, live, serve, love, and relate to one another. As God's Word takes root in individual lives, it strengthens the entire body. We become more mature, more equipped, and more prepared to do the work God has called His church to do.

Scripture: Colossians 3:16–17 says…

16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Key take away: God's Word builds us individually so that He can build us together.
