Read Matthew 25:31-46

Have you ever heard the saying “never judge a book by its cover?” There have been many times where I have made assumptions and have been completely and utterly wrong. There are times when I allow my stress and tiredness to lead me down very wrong assumptions regarding people or situations. In this passage, we see Jesus talk about the “least of these,” people who find themselves in some tough situations. However, Jesus gives a call to his listeners on how to approach those who are in this tough times.

You see, we see people in need or in tough situations as those reaping the benefits of their work. We see that as justice. However, Jesus gives us a different perspective. He tells his audience to address their needs, care for them, visit them, and in summary love them. He did not give reason to why any of these folks were in the situation that they are in. Instead, he follows it up with “whatever you did for the least of these, you did for me.”

Today, pray that God helps you see people the way He sees them and to equip you the best way possible to help those in need.
